Why sovereign hosting is now a procurement requirement, not a preference
Data residency, jurisdiction and supply chain control have moved from nice-to-have to pass-or-fail in defence and critical industry procurement.

Sovereignty used to appear near the bottom of a requirements matrix. It now sits at the top, and increasingly it is a pass-or-fail gate rather than a scored preference.
The reason is practical rather than political. Jurisdiction determines who can compel access to data, supply chain control determines who can change your software, and both are now treated as operational risks with named owners.
Designing for this from the start is far cheaper than retrofitting it. That means UK or approved hosting, clear data boundaries, least-privilege access, auditable change control and the evidence pack to prove all of it during accreditation.
